corked up chook

my chicken seems to be a bit constipated. she hasnt layed any eggs for about 2-3 weeks now. all of the other hens have rejected her and she simply stands in one corner all puffed up. she squwaks if i pick her up and kicks her legs about. she also dosent do much or eat much when I let them out of the coop. my dad said the best thing to do is put her out of her misery. I do love my hens but also want to do whats best for them. Is there anything we can do to help her or just put her down?????

If however she is quite skinny it could be a myriad of causes.

Don't laugh but it could be a tapeworm or just roundworm. If you know of any farmer or vet around your way, see if you can get a bit of ivermectin and use that as a spot on on the bare neck.

Unfortunately, the other chooks will not accept her until she starts to behave like a chicken should. She will now be on the bottom of the pecking order and once bleeding, she could very well be pecked to death.

I wouldn't advice inviting her for dinner until you know what it is.

thanks for your answers. she isnt skinnny at all, shes the biggest one now.should i separate her from the rest or leave her in the coop? I know that they sometimes have gotten into sheds and eaten ball bearings, plastic etc. Also becasue of my dads "busy" life he just insisted a tarp of the coop would do. It didnt and it frayed and the chooks would sometimes get the shreds of it. Could these contribute to what has made her constipated?? I feel very bad for her now, please help.

I just recently went down to the chooks and my dad told me to see what was around her bum. It looks as though there are 3 growths on her backside. Its all red too. There was also poop all around there too. What does this mean?

Get her to the vet, you can't let her suffer like that.

hi everyone, good news. this afternon when i went to check on my chooks I let them all out and she was scratching around, eating, clucking and happily mixing with the others. they havent pecked her at all and shes back to normal.
