changing story in crown court
If someone dramatically changes their story he held me at knifepoint and assulted me. Told the police on arrest that he had done nothing had not hit me and there was no knife involved. I have now been informed by a reliable source in Crown court is going to be that he assulted me to get the knife away from me as I was holding him at knifepoint and had gone mad, surely he cannot just change his story and be believed the judge and jury must want to know why he has come up with this change. He was drunk when arrested and was charged later the same day.

He was charged as soon as he sobered up he has already been before magistrates who would not take a plea off him and committed him to crown he has just fabricated this story to excuse hitting a woman
Was the knife recovered? If so there will be fingerprints which would contradict what he says. If you want to really punish the guy then prove your innocence and have him charged for Perverting the course of Justice. I assume this is in England, I am Scottish and so the laws will be slightly different but you get what I am saying.
From what the description says, there is no case for him battle and by changing his story to an unbelievable lie the 'Taxi Cab Rule' will not apply to his solicitor and he would, if he had any sense drop the case or concede.
Hope it helps,
