My DVD drive no longer

problem with CD-Roms.
As a technophobe - What
should I do ?
I am running XP Home.
Many Thanks

If you can find "Control Panel" off your start menu somewhere, and within "Control Panel" go to "System", and within that dialogue box find your DVD drive and delete it's profile (right click, and say remove) then restart your computer it would reinstall the drivers. That's the best way I can explain it and the only thing can think of to try easily.
Alternatively take it somewhere.
I've got the same, I went through all the hassle of upgrading windows media player to version 10 because the help pages said it would help but it doesnt.<sigh>
The help pages say that I would need to buy a software plugin to enable media player to play DVD's, but I am sure it used to play them without?
My DVD player installed on my machine that came with the DVD drive, is 'POWER DVD'. This opens when I put a DVD in but then after reading the information from the disc, closes itself down?
I have no idea why this is happening - unless it is designed to get me to buy the media player plugin?
I know this doesnt help your problem but at least you know you are not alone!
