Climate Change Levi on electricity
2 Answers
On my most recent electricity bill I found that on top of the standard bill, I had a 30 charge under the title 'climate change levi'. I have tried to ask Scottish Power about this but have as yet received no answer. Does anyone know what this is about and if Scottish Power can legally add it to my bill? (p.s.'m not sure this is really the correct theme to put this in, but can't find a more appropriate)

The levy is based on the amount of energy you consume - I believe youre charged something like an extra 0.5p per kwh. Its all to do with the UKs commitment to reducing greenhouse gasses, with the money being spent on promoting more efficient energy sources (so the 'blurb' I read said).
