How does Gary Lineker get to be the front man for the BBC on the Open Golf Championship? I mean, you don't see Alec Stewart fronting MOTD do you? Or Matt Dawson fronting Wimbledon? He must have a guardian angel at the BBC.

gary lineker (an experienced commentator) does not need to be a PGA pro to commentate, just like martin brundle does not need to be a formula one world champion to commentate, just like a PGA pro to be a club secretary.

he is a presenter, he does his little presenter parts that link to the game ect, he does not directly commentate over the golf itself. give up the soapbox

des lynam one of the all time great sports presenters, presenting numerous sports but did not play them to any standard, same with jim rosenthal steve rider etc, at least lineker can relate to pressure at a high level in sport
