no. Most do, it's their job, and their advice is as good as anyone else talking about things they know about. But they can make mistakes, same as anyone.
In my experience lawyers do what u ask them to do and bill you accordingly.

As for advice from them........they just advise you to keep fighting to run up their bill (not whether they can win the fight for u)!
Remember, for every court case one side loses. :)

You could consult many different solicitors about the same thing and get different advice from each one. All will be correct as they are simply giving an opinion.

There are very few instances that are so black and white you will get the same view from every one.

And they want your money. A good solicitor would tell you to take no action if he truly believed you didn't have a chance of winning, but that would mean no money for him.

A no win/ no fee solicitor will tell you take no action if he is not absolutely sure you will win. This is not necessarily the best advice - it just means he doesn't want to risk losing as he would get no fee.

I would say most solicitors and barristers provide good advice most of the time.

you get good and bad. if you need one and it's important, find one who specialises in that area of law.

sometimes they are notified of your case very late in the day (esp duty solicitors in court) and don't have enough time to get all the facts in order or do any research. again, if you need one get one in good time.
