What are some advantages and disadvantages of using a word processor to create a website?? I had it as an exam question, but I don't know what I should have put. Thanks in advance if there are any answers to this question!! lol

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Using A word prossesor to create a website can be very useful and easy but...there are disadvantages. the html (computer code which the data is written in) is alot larger and more complecated. this results in a website which takes a long time to load because it has to load all that unnessasary html. Frontpage is harder to use....but gives better results.

Word processors produce hideously ugly code (create a webpage in Word and then look at the source code of it!) so if you want to go back to your webpage later and update it slightly, you don't have some simple & effective code to amend. You have a Microsoft produced abomination.
If you have no idea whatsoever about html then using Word, for example, can do the not very hard work for you.
With a tiny amount of practice, creating pages in html code is really very simple.

Just a thought: you can use a word processor to write HTML code (you write the code, not the WP) and save the results as a text file with an html or htm extension. This is really using the WP as a text editor and possibly not what the question was driving at. I think "ease of use" -v- "bloat code" is the proper answer.
