is it possible to buy equipment that will download directly from a cd player onto a mp3 player or is there a new cd player or mp3/4 player on the market that will do this ...les

Given that the sound quality of MP3 tracks is cr@p, I don�t know why MP3 players cannot play CD-DA audio directly, as lesprocol wants.

2GB MP3 players are now dirt cheap and can store 3 CDs, each of 80 minutes playing time � I reckon there has to be a market for such a player.

Given that solid state memory is now so cheap, why compromise sound quality � I say ditch audio compression that degrades quality NOW !!!

makes the 600 my 2 gig will store look sick ....

I always thought that the whole idea of an mp3 player was that it is portable - while the hi-fi croud spend hours and hours finding the "sweet spot" in their listening room

from my experience, however good the quality of the recording ... the tumtitty tum of the leeds to kings cross - and the HELLO I'M ON THE TRAIN brigade sort of reduces the impact of hi-fi.

for an answer to the OP, there is such a hifi that rips tracks to an mp3 player i believe Panasonic used to make one, but looking around, im afraid it looks as if its discontinued

it has a usb, so you can plug a mp3 player in , and i supose it will rip cds onto it. Not sure if that one was the original one i saw though.
