Chopin and Paganini were composers.....
Question Author

Believe it or not I was aware of that fact, but I am unaware of a composer who wrote piano pieces named after these great composers.

I am,therefore, still hunting for the answer.

The old "South Bank Show" theme tune - if you remember that - was one of the Variations on a theme by Paganini by Sergei Rachmaninov.  He also did "variations" on themes by Chopin and by Corelli.  Do you think that could be it (does it fit your quiz?).

Sounds promising,thank you.
The South Bank Show referred to was on an album called "Variations" by Julian Lloyd-Webber, brother of the visually challenged one.
