i have been driving for a year and my insurance ran out month ago and i have sold my car. what happened is i finished work and my uncle mate was there he was going to drop me home, he is diabled who has back problems and had took tablets and couldnt drive due to the tablets so i was only the person who was there with a full uk licence. he is in his 40's and asked me if i could drive him home and said i was covered in his policy since he was there in the passenger seat. on the way home got pulled over by the police and i told them what the problem was and told me i had to show the doc in 7 days but i dont have insurance so i will be going court soon. can anyone tell me what will happen & what i can do?

About a 400 fine and six points seems to be the going rate.
Ah, so your uncle's mate was not telling the truth. Unfortunately an expensive lesson in life.
You should be taking your uncle's insurance documents if they show the vehicle is covered for 'any driver'.

If it isn't both of you face prosecution - it is equally an offence to permit or cause a vehicle to be driven without insurance.
