My loudspeaker icon has disappeared from bottom right of the screen - why, and how do I restore it. I have Vista. Please explain slowly, ha ha. As you would to your granny, please. I've found the sound settings in the control panel and I'm able to turn the volume up or down from there, but that's quite a detour and I want my icon back. Thanks.
Hi squarebear and trish432. Can't find it. A small window labelled Volume Control (in Swedish) opens up showing two slide controls, one of them for the loudspeakers and the other one for the "event sounds".
However, these two slide controls occupy only half of the space in that small window - could the blank space possibly be where the box to tick should be appearing, but isn't...?
Click on Start (bottom left of your screen)
Click on Control Panel on right hand side of the list that appears
Click on Task Bar & Start Menu Properties
(or just right click in the grey area at the bottom of your screen for these 3 steps)
Click on Notification Area
Check the box that says *Volume* (in between the Clock and The Network)
Click on Apply
Click on OK
(Still wondering why it disappeared in the first place, though, I'm the only one on this computer and I certainly haven't unchecked that box. But it's working now and I'm ecstatic so who cares. Thanks all!)
