Hey all!

I had my hair re done on Saturday, and had highlights & lowlights of brown, copper and blonde put in. A couple of days later, the top and back of my head were covered in little lumps & bumps. It doesnt hurt all the time, but sometimes it drives me crazy, and is sore and itchy, and a week later they havent gone away!

Just wondering if this could be some kind of mild reaction to what they used in my hair?

I'd say quite likely! try some Piriton, or some other anti-histimine, but I think you should show the hairdressers. they should have done an allergy test, but at least you'll know not to use the same brand next time.

you may have had a lucky escape, I've seen horrific pics involving hair dye allergies!
yes definitely, you poor thing. I have my hair dyed blonde and it can be quite sensitive afterwards and think maybe yours just went it a stage further. You should show the hairdresser as Sara said, but it should go down. I would use baby shampoo as its going to irritate it less and avoid the hairdryer as much as poss. Hope it feels better soon!

Hey sara,

Its weird, they are not like little sores, but just little bumps all over my head, and have noticed that as soon as I am in the sun, they itch like hell and I obviously scratch my head and am now ending up with little wounds!

I have also seen many pictures of bad reactions, and know I am very lucky!

But Im guessing they didnt do a test as I had been there for highlights before? But then I only had highlights before, where as this time they used a copper colour too, which I'm guessing is what have reacted to.

then try not to scratch! if they burst you have a chance they'll become infected.

ewwww... poor you!
it might be the peroxide in the blonde colour which can cause the skin to be burnt, hence why its sorer in the sun and why the hairdryer will make it worse.
They should do an allergy test everytime even if they are using something they have used on you before, because an allergic reaction can still happen
It sound to me as though the product has not been shampooed out of your hair thoroughly and your scalp has begun to rash.

Shampoo again thoroughly.

Beetlechick, thanks for your answer!

I never use a hairdryer anyway, but I do have to use special shampoos for dandruff at the mo as Im waiting for a drs appt to get a referal to a dermatoligist or tricologst.

My skin is unbelievably dry, and all round my nose and eyebrows is always flakey and looks really bad. Yet at the same time I have to wash my hair everyday as it gets so greasy, but I have bad dandruff :-(

I just cant win really! I mean I washed my hair last night before I went to bed, and today it got gradually got more and more greasy, until by th time I left work i looked manky and like I hadnt washed my hair in days!
you poor thing, you're not having much luck! Probably with your skin being so sensitive at the moment it made it worse, you could aways try an antihistamine like sara suggested, should help a bit. Fingers crossed!
