Not if you have a joint mortgage, have you spoken to the lender about trasnferring it to sols nemes or would the one to remain on the title remortgage?
Either way it is likley the lender will want solicitors involved in order to make sure everything is done properly.
See if the lender (current or remortgage depending on your plans) will offer free legals.
Trouble is free legals don't usually tend to include things like transfers of equity and will charge extra and it can sometimes be cheaper to use your own solicitor.
�500.00 would be steep for that kind of work and I'm sure you could find someone to do it for a lot less than that.
Bear in mind you may have to put indemnity insurance in place for a one of premium in case she goes bankrupt within 6 years of the transfer, possible also search indemnity insurance (unless your searches from your purchase are still under 3 months old) and other fees like Land Registry fee (�40.00), TT fees and copies of the title register etc...
