at a recent football match i seen someone with a flag whcih resembled a union jack only it was red green and white, anyone shed any light? it was a celtic fan which in turn suggests its nothing to do with britain - possibly irish?

I've seen the flag also - it is a Euzkadi i.e. Spanish Basque flag - see http://www.fotw.ca/flags/es-pv.html for an illustration and details.

Thank you pinotage - any idea why a celtic fan would have had this? [short passage deleted - Ed] it was neither irish, nor representative of a republican group. wether the basque flag has malicious intent or not is another topic of discussion. [short passage deleted - Ed.]

there you go again. you assume the flag of the basque regions of spain (and france) are solely representative of a basque based terrorist group (ETA). That's like saying the st andrews cross represents a scottish terrorist group..ahem...i dont think so. keep your mouth shut.
