Peeling bark problem

Can anyone tell us what's wrong with our 18ft eucalyptus tree? Earlier this year reddish patches started appearing on the trunk, and now the bark is peeling off in large pieces. Help!

don't panic, it's supposed to be doing that. ours is about twice that height and 23 years old, and at present our garden is covered in bits of its bark.
