baby weight
whats the average amount of weight a bottle fed baby should be putting on per week?
Nancy's 7 weeks old today and in the last fortnight has only put on 3oz. She was 7.11 at birth and is now 8.13 the HV says this is too little, but nothing to worry about, I hate taking her to be weighed coz I don't want to be constantly thinking about her weight, she feeds and sleeps really well and is healthy looking (apart from the rash!) and happy, so I know she's ok!!
I asked the HV what she would like Nancy to weigh/put on and she avoided the question, and said if Nancy hadn't gained enough weight next week she'd have to refer me to a doc! I could really do without this right now!!
so what is enough?
p.s I really don't understand the sentile charts!

I was very lucky as she was a wonderful HV - every other one I've ever met has made me feel like a crap mum or guilty for something!! As long as you feel your baby is ok - then stick with your instincts - you know best. (ps 98th centile would mean 98% of other kids are lighter than your child - ie the top of the chart, 10th percentile (lower end of chart) means that 90% of other kids are heavier - does that help at all? ?? ) Take care xx
Hey there I really would not worry about the weight of your baby as long as she is not loosing weight now then its not a problem. My baby is now 6 months old and still only 11 lbs after being born at 28 weeks weighing in at 1lb 15oz. She was on the 0.2 centile chart but is now steadily but slowly climbing it. I know its different because she was so early but I really would not worry too much which is easier said than done I know. My little one would put on 1/2 lb some weeks and the next only an oz. But as long as your baby seems healthy and happy im sure everything will be fine you would know if there wasnt anyway its a mothers instinct. Hope everything is ok with you and your little one and congratulations on the birth of your little girl x x
