I presume all you guys out there toiling away at these crosswords know that all the answers for the Express, at least, are on Google.
How do you all feel about that?
Kind of takes the edge of my enjoyment.

Not at all. I do as much of whatever crossword I can using brain power, then I refer to my trusted reference books - a whole shelf of the bookcase here, then if I am really stuck I will use the internet. I add in new information to my reference books and I have a word document on my PC with answers that have really taken me a time to find the answer to. I call this learning.
I agree with Billy2Hats 100% I too have lots of
reference books etc., in my study.
By the way so are the answers to M.O.S, they
don't come on to later in the day, actually normally
around 7pm. http:donaround.googlepages.com/home

Good for you!
I love toiling away at my crosswords, they keep my brain active. I only ask answer bank when I'm really stuck. Had a quick look at Google and all I could see were last weeks answers.

They are all there!
I'm also with you two boys- I get a good deal of enjoyment from learning something new each day and am constantly astonished at some of the things that lurk in my sub conscious-facts recalled from schooldays even and that wasn't yesterday!!
Billy2hats is spot on. That is exactly what I do. My enjoyment is getting all the answers myself, and my reference books are well thumbed!
i'm with you guys, We each read the clues and note what we think are the answers then we hit the bookshelf full of reference books and I use the online dictionary. It's not about filling in the crossword it's about the challenge of finding the answers, the more obscure the better a sense of achivement. Then the last few which we haven't got I look here, trawing back through the posts.
Thanks to all those who contribute. Cheers.
I feel exactly the same MrsER. I still do the crossword every week but I don't send it in anymore. The fact that someone can just pull up the answers on Google, takes the thrill out of doing the crossword. I finished it this week without using the AnswerBank.

Good to Know I'm not alone in this!!!
That's a pretty sad attitude to knowledge. You still need to know the word you have found is the correct by definition. Is there really a difference between looking up an encyclopedia or dictionary or an internet page? Once you have learned something by whatever means it adds to you personal knowledge and you may not need to look it up again in the future. Maybe the internet is just too modern a research method for some. Each to their own - but I'd rather keep learning by whatever means.
its not a secret most of us have known this for quite a while, but we still prefer to do it " my way", what else is there to do on a wet Sunday morning ?
We love to use our books and then use google if anything's left. We certainly don't cheat by using that guy's website where he posts the whole grid and we don't use the answerbank either although often directed here by google.
