I have a large DVD collection and I am wondering if I really need to change them to Blue Ray discs (if available) or if a suitable player will upgrade them to a high quality picture . I have asked in shops but no one will give a demonstration to show the difference.

A blu-ray player should play them, but they will be played in standard format.
