Respect , Authority and the cane ........

Why has society readily accepted lack of respect and lawlessness that seems strife in this once great country ??

Was the pivot point when the Thacherite government stopped caning young adults at school , thus leading to teachers having lack of authority and this leading to lack of respect for the law in this country , your views please?...... have we reaped what we have sowed??

I got hit across the back of the hand by my headteacher for trying to be funny in class.

I remember some poor girl being forcibly dragged upstairs by the scruff of her neck by one of the deputy heads for daring to not eat her lunch.

I remember one of the class pains being forcibly thrown (as in properly thrown) out of the classroom as well.

We had an RE teacher who used to lob the board rubber at us. On the last day of term one year, we collected every board rubber we could find and on a given signal lobbed them at him. He was actually quite badly hurt, but he didn't do that again.

Oh, skool memories. Well, we once threw a desk out of the window of Upper 5 and it landed (in noisy bits) on the Library Square. And as it happened the Second Master was crossing the square at the time of impact. He was quite cross and caned a few boys. Not me of course because I had nothing to do with it.

I think we have reaped what we have sown, I am in the "thrash the little ******* to an inch of there life" camp, Unfortunatley in my life time , we will have more choice when going clothes shopping, along with jumpers and sweat shirts you will have a choice of stabbable or non stabbable.....
