How much giga bites on a memory stick
3 Answers
Hello, could anyone advise me how many giga bites on a memory stick my son would need, as he is starting secondry school in September. I was thinking of getting a 2GB or 4GB but unsure what would be best or do I need to get a larger size memory. Thanks in advance for you advise

memory always has a sweet spot ... above that the price is ridiculous. so 2x 4gb can be much cheaper than an 8.
and sometimes bought online the postage can be more than the stick
with a "young adult" the bigger problem is ... i t will either get lost, smashed, swapped, sold, etc.... so a quality product probably isn't worth considering
a 2gb stick from tesco is 4.99 and should be fine
the other option is to spend a little more and get something like this

nifty .... do kids say nifty these days?
I still can't find the top off mine!

I cannot agree more with the 2 posts above; it is not worth taking anything of value to school. Unless your child is going to write more than the Complete Works of Shakespeare every day on his stick, either a 2GB or a 4GB is more than enough. I found a 256KB one on a bus over a year ago, and I have not even half filled it, and that has hundreds of pages of poems on it.
Aros do some memory sticks with full encyclopedias on, but you will have to buy these before September 16th to get their sale price.
See Argos Cataloge page 1311 for all 3 Phase Drive, they range in price from 22.99 to 39.99, so if I were a parent I would buy this in an instant.
A good place to buy online office supplies is:
www.svp.co.uk as things there are somtimes only a third of high street prices.
Hope this helps. (Sprring/ Summer Argos Cat 2008)
