Repairing a laptop keyboard
My daughter spilled something on the keyboard of her laptop, the only result being that the SHIFT key now doesn't work. She is managing fine with a separate keyboard, but is there a way in which one can investigate and fix the problem as one can with a standard desk-top keyboard?

You have two shift keys .. is neither one working?
.... in fact three 'cause there is shift lock as well
normally keys stick up or down ... if down ... none of the others work until it's released. and popping the key is a good idea
stuck up ... (in this case) all the other should work ....including the other shifts.
and generally a bit of gentle persuasion will do the trick - without the need to pop.
if you do pop - I find a needle bent at about 100 degrees about 1.5 cm from the end is a good prodder for hooking the little leggy things back in (you'll need to get the end of the needle red so it beds without breaking)
