I wondered if anyone has any advice for losing weight once an underactive thyroid has been diagnosed and controlled. I've been on thyroxine for 2 years now, blood tests are normal, but I've actually managed to gain weight in that time, despite careful eating and exercise. Grateful for any info.; thanks in advance.

I have an underactive thyroid and am also on thyroxine and have normal blood tests etc. It is just sooo hard to lose weight. The leader of my weightwatchers group said she has found that all the people she's encountered in the same situation also find it really hard to lose weight. All the books I've read suggest that you have to have an ultra-healthy diet if you have an underactive thyroid. I think I'm just going to have to accept that I'm never going to get back to my previous weight. I shall just aim for a healthy weight.
