My neigbour is having a extention built Her builder is taking his time building the wall thats 90 degrees to my property(the other walls are 98% complete)The fence that devided the properties has been down now for 3.1/2 weeks.He comes late mornings on a fine day and is gone by 3pm, and doesnt work weekends when the weathers good.I am going to approach him and give him a time limit to complete.Is this the right way to go.

why on earth would you do that? its her builder, not yours and as such you can't impose cnditions on them. If it's your neighbours boundary, there is no imperative for them even to have any fence/wall there anyway - they could simply have removed the fence and not replaced it with anything at all and it would still be perfectly legal.

I think you will come across as a bit of an arse and probably the builder/neighbours will have a good laugh over your imposed time limit

Yeah, said a bit forcibly maybe, but basically all true. As it is their boundary, strictly speaking they don't have to put anything there ever, and the point made about anything - even an eyesore being put up - is true.

I think you will probably be best to ask casually when the fence will be put back.

Though having noiticed your spelling of neighbour, maybe you are in the US and different rules may apply.

Thanks for your replies all,but on the subject of whos boundry it is I have checked my deeds and its mine,so I think I may have a say in the matter.I could have been an arse and refused for the fence to be taken down in the first place.

if it's your boundary, then you still cant force anybody to work faster on it. All you can do is put something up on your side to mask the unsightly work
