no interest today?

I thought this was a clever puzzle that required a lot of lateral thinking

enjoy!
Hi Midazolam. Only just picked the link up so haven't looked at it yet. Thanks for posting it.
many thanks for link, it will give me a break from the listener
I quite agree, midazolam, a good debut for Raich. I populated the grid quite quickly, and got the 30 extra letters, but struggling to find the 15 contiguous squares.
As with recent Sundays have had hardly any time to spend on this. ( Enjoyed the point at Old Trafford today!! ) Still have not found the 15 squares. Any hints welcome please.

my lateral thinking was:

there is a connection between the unclued lights (apart from one), the second and last word of the extra letters

this then links with a word found in the grid

it then dawned on me that the third and fourth word of the extra letters (which links with another unclued light) also links with this word!

hope that helps docHH

and to you novalis

good luck

midazolam...........I haven't come across this puzzle before. I'd like to try it - but - what on earth are "unchecked letters"
Hi The Builder!
This is a barred crossword. Unchecked letters are ones which are not confirmed by an intersecting answer.
Hi Midazolam!
Hope new fatherhood is still treating you well. Thanks for the hint. I shall now go back to it.
Many thanks Novalis...........understood
