how do you reprograme a secondhand key for my astra 1999 model deisel van, the original keys have been lost and i have purchased a lock set but need to recode the key

if you have a handbook it will tell you in there,if you dont,its either a main dealer job or a locksmith that does it.

You need a car electrical specialist or Vauxhall dealer to do it.

I think you just put the ign on and press the lock/unlock buttons it is that simple

I dunno if you have already solved this problem but its really simple its just as bigboots has already said

to synchronise the key

step 1
turn you ignition to position 2 ie ignition lights on but engine not running.

step 2
With the key at position 2 in the ignition press the lock then unlock buttons on the key

step 3
the central locking then is able to lock and unlock
