I spilt with the ex boyfriend 7 months ago, in this time he gave me a tv, as a goodwill gesture, i gave him �50 for the tv. and dodnt get a receipt, now the police have come around and threated to arrest me if i dont give it back..

Yes he had owned the tv, he had paid for it prior to myself knowing him, he had 2 houses and when he moved from the one house, he had a surplus tv, probably buy them second hand for �50 to80 on ebay...
So he gave me the tv when he moved from the second house, myself in mostly a gesture of goodwill, gave him 50 for it, but i did consider the money a goodwill gesture as i needed to get one and he gave me one...

I think ur being bullied by the police. Keep the TV as it's yours as you paid �50 for it....receipt or not....end of! If the police arrest you ur entitled to demand a solicitor. Then sue-sue-sue for all u can get......and you'll win as am sure there are plenty of people in your situation (buying things without receipts).
I can't believe police get involved with such a case! Get details of the officers name & numbers.....make a complaint to the Chief.
