5 Answers
This might be a long shot but I am trying to trace a list of R/T and W/T procedures wireless operators used to use in Lancasters in1945, especially the codes like QDM, QFE. Anybody out there can help?

I assume you were a WOP in the RAF, and also am assuming you are the same Hugh Spencer who replied on raf-lincolnshire.info regarding HCUs? My father, Paddy Roe , was a NAV with 9 Sqn on Lancs, and would have been at 1654HCU and 5LFS at about the same time as you. Dad passed away in 1991, but I've recently been doing a lot of research into his service history, and am hoping you may have some information or photos from 1944-45 that you would be willing to email on. It would be an amazing coincidence if you had known my father, although it is a remote chance given the number of people passing through the training units at that time. Dad was from Ireland, but settled in Australia, and I'm writing from Melbourne. I have a few photos of Dad's RAF service if you would like to see them also. I've searched for course and crew photos, but so far have not met with much success. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Stephen Roe (email [email protected]).
