Spring came early that year... or was it late?

I think that there is a book or poem that starts, "Spring came early that year, creeping over the [something] like [something]". Or it could be late, not early. It sounds so familiar, yet I cannot find it through Google. I thought it might be from The Waste Land, but that is "Summer surprised us".
If anyone can help, please do! It's been bugging me for about a week. Thanks.
