I know its illegal to consume your own alcohol on a licensed premises, but does that apply to soft drink also.my wife and I have been taking our own lemonade as we don't like the syrupy stuff they serve.
Also what about food, crisps nuts sandwiches etc. when the club/bar sells them.

Most places specify that only food or drink bought on the premises can be consumed on the premises. I don't know the legalities, but it's a pretty fair thing to ask - after all, they have to pay for your comfort somehow.

As I said, dunno about the legalities, but they'd be perfectly in order to ask you to stop (eating and drinking, no matter what) or else leave.
If everyone did that how would the LP pay their rent/wages/exes?

It's not illegal in the criminal sense, but a club can set its own rules, ask people to leave and bar them

I can only assume you are trying to joke asking this.

I can just imagine you turning up at your local with a picnic!

So you want to sit and soak in the atmosphere but not pay for the privilege?
