has anyone ever noticed how much drivers and passengers do not wear their seatbelts properly just lately I've seen women in the passenger seat of a car wearing the belt undreneath their arms instead of over their shoulder
I'd have thought that it was uncomfortable to wear it like that
I've even seen a learner driver wear her belt in a similar way I wonder how she got on with her driving test

If I'm in the passenger seat of my friends car, I have to wear the belt under my arm as the seatbelt rubs my neck, which is far more uncomfortable than wearing it under my arm.
Most of the fatals that have been in our area recently have been of people not wearing their seatbelt.

There really is no excuse for not wearing it when driving. Even pregnant women can buy a safety belt which will lower the lap belt away from her tum.

Personally i cant not wear it, even if moving the car on the driveway it feels odd not to have the seatbelt on.
i'm same as lakitu, it annoys me round my neck
I have the same problem as Lakitu & 4getmenot but I wouldn't not wear one. A friend of mine had an accident years ago and her 8 year old daughter was thrown through the windscreen and the car landed on top of her so it's a good reason to wear one even if it's not comfy.
Id rather hear of someone pulled from a car wreck with a sore rubbed neck that hear that their body had been thrown from the vehicle.

Lakitu, scotgirl and 4get, why not get some of those covers that babies have on car seat straps? It may help.
its only when I'm in passengers dont do it when driving so I can hardly tell everyone to get me one of them fitted lol
they dont need to be fitted. you could carry one around. But you wear the belt over your shoulder anyway, perhaps those that pull it under their arms should carry one
I DO wear the seatbelt, Red, just not over the shoulder. It's not in my own car so I'm not buying those furry things for the few times I'm in his car.

If there's an accident, I'll have a squashed left boob :o)
carry a belt around??? Ok I promise not to wear it under shoulder anymore
lakitu, if youre not wearing it over your shoulder then i think youd risk more than a squashed boob :(

Your whole upper body wouldnt be correctly restrained. OK you wouldnt be thrown out of vehicle but it could be a lot worse than a sore neck.

If you can find a cover with Stewey Griffin on it, I'll buy it and take it with me if I know I'll be in his car..... :o)
It really bugs me when people don't wear seatbelts I mean why? Do they not care about their life? My father in law never wears one I think he is just stupid. He often sits in our car in the back seat and doesn't wear it then either until my 4yr old asked him why he didn't have it on. He soon fastened it then! I did once ask him to put it on when I was in a bad mood and felt brave enough to inform him that if I were to have an accident he would crush me to death as well as himself and that worked too!
Those of you that get sore necks, have a look at the mounting point. Many cars have adjustment up and down to avoid this.
I wear a seat belt if I am a passenger and reluctantly wear it when am driving.....as it slips across boobs (on both cars I drive) and raised or lowered. I think it's a bad design for women!

I was followed 5miles by police while driving without belt, explained as above (commented I could do without 'cheap thrills' while at the wheel) ?? Police told me to get medic note! Got it!
as with redcrx, ive seen many fatals they could of been avoided by wearing a belt, they wouldnt of escaped uninjured but cetainly alive.....WEAR IT !!!!

i worked with a TVP police recovery agency so i have seen it first hand....
watch this to understand why wearing a belt is important, i suffer with the same issue but have a wrap thing as described above over the belt to stop it rubbing so bad and it works.
ps video is a bit grisly!
