The leniency of the sentence is beyond absurd and a really sickening indication that we value our property, goods and money over our children... and people wonder why society is slowly disintergrating around us. It's up to the judiciary to start to understand that they are somewhat of a benchmark to your avergae ar5ehole who think he/she can go around abusing children willy nilly and pretty much get away with it.
It's not mitigating by any stretch of the imagination, but we are told that he has a daughter who had leukaemia and a heart and lung transplant as well as Down's Syndrome. The rage was triggered by the people (presumably including the parents of this poor child) at the party 'taunting' him about his "spastic" daughter and changing her nappy when she was a teenager.
Now, as I said, not mitigating but you only have to see some of the crap that goes on Chatterbank to see how idiotic some (idiotic) people get towards others and their children. Thankfully on here its just words.

I dispare of the justice system and if I had found out that ANY ONE had been abusing my child in that fashion I wouldn't go to the poice. I see no point in going through all that bother only for some mealy mouth liberal more or less let him off.
They would find me on thier doorstep (or some other place) with the tape to discuss it. They wouldn't do it again....

I was unaware of that Octavius, and in that regard I do feel for him very much, however I could fully see the sense in belting the sh1te out of the people concerned and wouldn't be at all bothered if had done, but as to the baby, however upset he was, it's 100% unacceptable. I have an autistic spectrum disorder son and my oldest son ( now adult) is deaf and occasionally people will relish being unpleasant about that as his speech is somewhat different to other people's, however I don't think anyone who is balanced, loves and respects children would dream of doing such a thing as attacking a sleeping baby, and I still feel that it needs to be dealt with far more severely than it was to send out that message.
I agree with you Nox, but I don't think this man is/was 'balanced'. I also believe there is a lot more to the sad tale thean we really know - apparently the parent's knew he was a danger to the child yet still gave him free reign over theeir house??
I am not making any excuses, nor do I wish to - I think he deserves a lot more - but when people 'call on the carpet' at such sentences, all is not always as it seems.
