Whilst out today in the car we passed a cat which had obviously been knocked down. It was lying at the side of the road. We stopped and on closer inspection the cat was dead. We asked a man who was stood around if he knew whos it was. He said he didn't and he said the cat had been there since last night (can you believe it) people were walking past it as if it didn't exsist. Anyway mrpuss put it in a bag and we brought it back home, we buried it in the field next to our house. A nice peacefull spot overlooking the valley and a river. I know this is not a Q but I just couldn't leave poor kitty lying at the side of a busy dusty road.

what a caring thing to do puss_boots, i saw one when on a bus, the first thing i did when i got home was give my two great big hug.
I found a little jack russell dead at the side of the main road a few weeks ago, no one stopped to help and it wasn't as if it wasn't visible. Poor thing wasn;t chipped so we still dont know who she belonged to :_-(
That is so sad Puss. I was walking to the newsagent one day a few years back and saw a crowed of people hovering near the curb. When I got nearer I saw a little black and white cat lying on the floor dead. One of the people said that they moved the cat to the curb as it was lying dead in the middle of the road. Someone then took the cat somewhere presumably to bury it.

What upsets me is when I see dead animals on A roads and motorways. Nobody is going to stop and move them out of the way. I just wish people would be more careful but that is difficult to do when you're on a motorway, as you can't do much about it.

Thanks folks for your answers, little kitty is now in a nice place and perhaps he/she will meet its owner at the rainbow bridge. RIP

Ok In a Pickle will do.
This upsets me so much I once did a similar thing, the cat we found had obviously just been run over because it was still warm and like the one you found was just laying in the middle of the road. I couldn't bare to touch it I was too upset my hubby moved it to onto some grass at the side of the road and when we passed again later it was gone. I would like to think it had miraculously recovered and walked off but hubby said it was definitely dead. I cried buckets.
It was a lovely thing you did I just couldn't pick up a dead animal I would be too upset. Its owner will be very grateful if he/she finds out. Maybe you could put up a little notice at the spot?
awwthats so sweet, maybe u could put an ad in the local shop window to find the owner cos there probably waiting for the cat to go home, if it was my cat i would like to know,
That was a lovely thing to do. I get really upset if I see a cat dead like that as it is probably someone's pet and I know how I would feel if it was one of mine. Most local papers will put a found advert in free of charge so you could perhaps try that.
I was really touched that you did such a kind deed. I am sure I would have done exactly the same as you. its good to know that there are some really kind people out there when it seems all you get to hear about are the bad things people do. God Bless you.
Thank goodness you and hubby were kind and compassionate pussnboots . I too can't believe people would walk past the poor soul as though it didn't exsist .
You have been very thoughtful to give it a beautiful resting place , and I'm sure the owner will be touched by your actions if and when they are located. xxxxxx
