I had an operation about 5 years ago and it left with me with a scar on my breast. Over time, as my breasts grew, the scar has become much more noticable and is frankly ugly. I thought over time it would fade but has instead seemed to have gotten worse. Does anyone know what I can do to reduce the appearance of the scar, which is dark in colour and "sticks out", as I hate it and would do anything to be rid of it. Has anybody tried laser treatment for scars?

Thanks

As one who works in the Op Theatre we infrequently have patients return to theatre for refashioning of scars as a result of the symptoms you describe. The old scar is usually excised and the wound re-sewn, usually with a different technique to the first incision It is very often performed under local anaesthetic.

Go and see your GP and ask his advice.

I have something similar on my wrist - called keloid scarring. Really not very pretty, but have been recommended to try some scar reducing patches from Boots etc. Expensive but apparently work... you can always take a look!
Apparently pricking a vitamin e capsule & putting it on can help stop them forming, and may reduce them too. Worth a try!
I recently had an op on a scar called z plasty which is a form of plastic surgery. Although mine was for medical reasons my surgeon did say that lots of people have it done for cosmetic reasons.
