I think this series has been ruined by the addition of actual characters. It was much better with just a voiceover and the occasional hand. It seemed simpler and therefore more convincing and just better! Does anybody else agree with me?

The point about the first series was that it was a parody of those kinds of programmes in their day. Now it's just ridiculous and much less subtle. And I'm still very disappointed!
They are both just send-ups of 1970's/80's TV with the same programme title as it is from the same team of writers/performers.
I think of them as different series.
Just think of them as "Ripping Yarns" or "The Comic Strip presents...", a series that can parody any show/theme/era but with an umbrella title.
