Am I right to be peeved? My immersion heater (water tank) broke. A repair man came out telling me he charged 30 an hour plus parts. He arrived, was here EXACTLY an hour in total and charged me 35 for the labour, 19 for the part PLUS VAT on both- so it came to 65. Then he told me that he had spilt some water. After he left I went downstairs and the carpet was soaking where it had obviously all come out of the tank. He didn't put my ladder away and left the kitchen in a mess. Is this standard practice/prices for a plumber?
35 is cheap for a plumber and the parts are about 19 from B&Q and that includes the vat, but as to spilling water everywhere then I would ring him back and ask for his insurance details so you can make a claim for your damaged ceiling, you never know you might get your money back....
