i will be turning 17 in the coming months and would be grateful for general information on getting started with driving.

i know you have to take a theory, and you ave to take a practical, and you have to apply for a provisional. but thats it! when can i apply for a provisional, when can i apply for lessons, when can i apply for my theory and in what order. general information please!

i may sound stupid but i thought this would be the best place to go as i have recieved brilliant and thorough information here before.

thanks in advance anyone who can help :) i have posted this question in chatterbank too, as it is a more commmonly used section!

You can apply for your provisional licence up to three months before your 17th birthday

You can take your theory test on your 17th birthday, if you have your licence and it is valid on that date.

You can book your first lesson to take place on your 17th birthday, if you have your licence.
Our local test centre is on a small industrial estate not far from a fast food place,We got a coffee and the test candidates returned, (6 of them). Now talk about agony and ectasy you could tell by their actions if they had passed or not. Two passed and were beaming ear to ear,the other four were in stages of dispair or disbelief,we nearly choked on our coffee in sympathy but we dared not catch their eyes lest we be mistaken for ghouls instead of innocent bystanders. The passed candidates get a magazine from the examiner plus their green fault form, the failed ones only get the fault form. Make sure you get the magazine first time Pinkflower, its an expensive business, dread to think of cost of test now.
