At least 9% minimum of the uk prison population are convicts in britains jails.
According to a report "An inability to cope with civilian life, particularly for those who joined the services on leaving school, can certainly lead to offending and see someone swapping one institution for another."

Do you thinki its a ticking timebomb?
And what can be done to help these ex soldiers to fit in to civilian life?

I am still totally shocked that the figure of 9% is said to be a low estimate !!

sorry it has taken me so long to reply,
the NAPO figure (according to your link) is taken from only "70 case studies", which is not a lot, so i dont think that it is a very good report.
it also states that "IT MAY BE ON THE LOW SIDE", so then it may easily also be on the high side.
so IMO i dont think there is really all that mutch of a ticking timebomb......... yet
i do believe tho' that more should be done to help our soldiers who come off the battlefield and straight onto the streets, as it can take some a long time to adjust back to societies way of thinking
