The number of births registered by single mother's was also highest for those who recorded as Caribbean at 20.5 per cent followed African (13 per cent) and white British (seven per cent).

One would expect a high rate of single mothers amongst the Blacks in Africa, but in Britain, why?

AOG, stop being so obtuse. You're deliberately misinterpreting what people say.

All SP's said (and correct me if I'm wrong here, SP) is that the reason the people you've categorised into the amorphous 'left' haven't given any answers is because they don't know them - because it's a very complicated issue and they'd rather not just dive into the most simplistic answer available. (Well, either that or they can't be bothered).

He gives a parrallel with asking about white paedophiles - fact is, we don't really what causes this just as we don't really know what the causes are for the issue you've raised. The reason for this being that there isn't as much public interest in really analysing the problems/causes as there is in something like, say, crime - I'm sure there are some experts looking into these things somewhere around but the public generally aren't as interested in their findings.

Upon reading this, you've rolled your eyes and gone 'Gah! Liberal Conspiracy!' which kind of misses the point, to be frank.

Yep - that pretty much sums it up!!!

You put up a very good and polite argument Kromovaracun.
Although I don't think I was deliberately misinterpreting what people say. I may accidently misinterpret who knows, perhaps only others can judge me, right or wrong.

Regarding Public interest in the matter in question i.e. 20.5% single mothers of Black Caribean, against 7% single mothers of White British, I would think there would be great interest.

You mentioned the fact that there would be more interest in the problems/causes of crime, for instance. Well surely the fact that there is a large proportion of Black single parent families, could be the root cause for the high percentage of crime among the Black Community.
I would think there would be great interest.

You'd think so. But what I mean is that if you were to walk up to someone and ask them what they think about the divergence in the percentage of single parents between whites as a group and Caribbean/African as a group and they'll probably have to think for a few minutes. Do the same with something broad - like violent crime - and they'll be more responsive.

Maybe. Maybe not, this can only be an assumption, just as mine can only be an assumption. I think in this case we can only agree to disagree, although I still feel it is food for thought.

AOG,

You've hit the nail on the head!

That simply attributing violent crime to a race is a complete non-starter.

There are other mitigating factors...and I've banged on about this before...parental background, education, living conditions, peer pressure, economic opportunities...they all feed either negatively or positively.

You've identified one possible driver behind violent crime. I would wager that if you factored in the other propellants, you would see a pattern forming, and it doesn't form uniquely along racial lines.
