Hi there. I had a laparoscopy about 2 months ago. Some endimitriosis was found and treated there and then. I have a follow up appointment at the end of October but my stomach really is very sore, sorer I feel than it was before I had the treatment. I just wanted to know others experiences - The fact that the follow up appointment is 4 months after the initial treatment is it normal that things perhaps have not yet settled down or should I be seeing my doctor before then. I did see her a few weeks after the treatment and we did discuss some pain but at that time assumed it was just too soon after. many thanks

Hi Joannie. Sorry to hear of your discomfort after this procedure. If you still feel sore, you should request to see the consultant earlier, incase there is some kind of infection or other problem.

May I ask, how is a Laparoscopy performed, is it through the navel? Were you under General Anaesethic at the time?

I was under general anaesthetic. I was told there would be 2 small incisions - one in navel and the other around bikini line. I acutally have 3 but think that was because they found something to treat - the third one is over towards hip bone. All very small and healed up fine.
My daughter had the same treatment for the same problem - it's taken her a good few months to get completely pain free. Although the incisions healed up very quickly the one in her naval took the longest. Hope you soon start to feel more comfortable.
