Hi, see my answer a couple of day's ago on the motoring section. (Fiesta fanbelt I think the question was)
rib down, It's more commonly known as a "V" belt, for obvious reasons, and ribbed or not, you would fit it with the narrow end inside the pulley wheel, which is also a "V" shape.
My appologies, I assumed it was a simple fiesta fan belt, the newer models use a flat belt with grooves, I assume these are what you refered to as "ribbed", if so then , yes, the ribbs go against the pulley wheels
