Hi there,
Poi (meaning "ball") is a Maori traditional method of dancing. It is performed by New Zealand Maori women, but some believe it actually originated in Japan and was taught to wealthy Japanese children.
These days it has become more of a performance art, often seen at Festivals and juggling conventions. There are a wide variety of poi spinning toys made from UV rip stop nylon, sock poi, flag poi (as shown in the video) and LED glow poi.
