It could be stoke. But if doctors are explaining anything, or giving bad news, at a time of great upset and stress, it's very difficult to take in details.
I was given bad news about my dad when on my own. When I had to speak to my mum I was shocked how little I'd taken in.
If it is bad news, you may be surprised at how well you deal with it. If you are with your mum, and it is bad, you are likely to be concerned for her. It is surprising the strength that comes to us during these times.
I hope it is better news than you are fearing.

Stoke, if you can bring along a few members of your family it will help when listening to what the doctor has to say. It will allow each member to ask the doctor questions etc. Depending on the news, your mum will need lots of support, as will you and any other brothers/sisters etc. My heart goes out to you (as i am mentally replaying a similar experience of my own). However, you will all find the strength from somewhere to cope with what the future will bring. I'll say a wee prayer for you tonite. Let us know how everything goes. x
I was really sad when I read your post stokemaveric.
I too have been in a similar situation, and at the moment I expect it feels like nothing else matters to you, and that all you can think about now is your father, mother and the rest of your family.
It is a perfectly natural feeling, but just to let you know, others do understand, and are thinking of you right now.
I said a prayer for you and all your family when I first read your news.
Let us know how everything goes.
