We have Sky plus and 90% of the time we get perfect signal and no problems...except for when we want to record!! Then mysteriously we lose the signal! At the moment we have to wait till the programme we want comes on...turn to the channel, press record and then it MIGHT record. Sometimes we have to turn the whole thing off again. This happens all the time no matter what the weather is so I think there is a problem with the sky box...anybody got any ideas or solutions??
When you say you have turned it off do you mean the Sky+ box? Turn the whole thing off from the main socket(remove the plug from the socket) wait 10 seconds, then reconnect(this re-boots the box.)
Have you checked the Signal Strength. There is an option on the menu.
As previous answer the first thing to try if your box is doing odd things is to reset it.
Put your digibox in standby.
Switch the box off at the mains for at least 30 seconds.
Remove the card and clean it gently with a clean cloth or tissue.
Switch the mains back on.
Allow the box to restart which takes about 20 seconds.
Insert viewing card when prompted.
Hi, dont want to teach you to suck eggs. Are you awear that your sky box has two individual feeds into it from the LNB attached to the dish. One supply to watch programms and one for the recording if u like. So if you have trouble with the LNB or one of the cables from it this can cause the problem you have. The LNB you have fitted is a 4way LNB with only two used and two blanked of, so you could try and swap cables around if you can reach the dish.
Thanks everyone. When I said switch off I did mean turn the whole box off at the wall, which we are having to do about 4 times a week at the moment!!! I can't reach the dish so I guess we are just going to have to put up with it!!! It is just so annoying because we can't use the series link or set up recording whilst we are out!!
I would suggest you take out the Sky maintenance insurance which costs 8.50 per month.I pay this by direct debit & it covers everything ( HD Box,Dish,LNB etc) in my opinion it's well worth the money to have everything covered.Ron.
