windows mail probs
3 Answers
having got a new computer with Vista
(my old email was outlook express)
i have gone through it with my isp to reconnect etc
i can receive mails ok but NOT send any
the error notice below
btw i deleted my isp name
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'email', Account: 'pop3.***********.com', Server: 'smpt.**********.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
what does this mean as i can't mail my provider on the new PC or anyone else
i tried it with mozilla but no different
however it does STILL send mails on the old pc after this problem occurs.
i have contacted them on old pc but awaiting answers
oh yeah its connected through a speedtouch modem
Thanks
any ideas

There are countless references to error code 0x800CCC0E on Google. (It occurs with all Microsoft email clients). The problem is that no two sites seem to agree on how to fix it!
My own experience is that simply deleting the account, and the recreating it (using the instructions on your ISP's website), usually does the trick. (It's worked for me on several occasions and I've also helped a friend with a similar problem. We're both using Outlook Express but I doubt if that makes any difference).
However, one or two websites suggest that your security software might be causing the problem. If deleting and recreating the account doesn't work, try briefly disabling your anti-virus software (and/or your firewall) to see if that identifies the cause.
