Graduate Loans
2 Answers
I am going to finish my degree in May. I've had stuff sent through the post from my bank (Barclays) offering me a graduate loan, on the basis that their one is the cheapest rate.
I cant really see any difference between this and a standard personal loan. I'm looking to borrow about 6000, and as far as I know I have a pretty good credit rating. Any recommendations?

Do you have a full time job - if not a lot of banks will not give you a normal loan as there is no way of repaying the loan. A graduate loan will often have a deferred payment period (ie 2 - 6 months after you graduate, giving you time to get a job).
It does rather depend on what your degree is in - I know that some mortgage comanies will lend 6 x a newly graduated solicitor's salary as in 5 years they will be making vastly more thsan they are earning after just graduating.
Moneyfacts will give you info on both graduate loans and normal loans.
