er...which one?

talk amongst yourselves....
As there wasn't a hit parade until 1952, it could not have been the Ink Spots

Follow your link down and until you come to 25th October 1952 and it clearly says Here in My Heart is the very first #1 in the UK record sales chart
Whilst Al MArtino was the first record given No. 1 status, the question can be viewed as a wee bit ambiguous because it asks which record was the first to enter the chart at number 1............

I took it to be asking which record was the first once the charts had been established to enter as a No. 1 rather than spend any time climbing to the number one spot.........

Or is it just me .........?

.............phew ! :o)
The first song to enter the British Charts at number 1 once the chart was established was "Jailhouse Rock" By Elvis in January 1958.
Question Author
I think we are going to enterpret it as the song that entered the established chart at number 1.

she can always question the confusing layout of the question with her teacher...she is like that
