Can you clarify the reasoning behind this? Norman is 99% right, but there is only one way to remove the total loss marker from a vehicle.

If it was you who had the accident, and the insurer declared it a total loss and then entered the vehicle onto MIAFTR, then providing you can produce an alternative repair estimate which makes the vehicle a repairable option (in a reasonable period of time), the insurer can send copies of the estimate and an accompanying engineer's report to the DVLA to remove the marker (after deleting the MIAFTR entry).

my chassis number was took as it was 1 digit out from the one that was written off... "human error" they called it!!!
