Since the formula for water is H2O, I guess you could call it "dihydrogen oxide" these agree with me http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=15679&lastnode_id=494695 Water is actually an aqueous equilibrium of the "proton" acid H+ and the "hydroxide" base OH- as 2H20 <equilibrium sign> H3O+ + OH- so how about "trihydrogen oxide" as the acid?
