Weird funeral question? :(

Sorry but this is weird...
Of my nana & grandad, my grandad died young and my nana never got over it, she has said that she wants to be buried in the same grave as him when it's her time. She seems to have set up some kind of funeral plan as well so we all comply with her wishes.
Thing is, he was small & slim when he died and so was she but she's now morbidly obese, 77, with heart problems and is unlikely to loose weight. If she wants to be buried will she need a wide coffin, will this fit in the hole where my grandad is buried - he was buried I think12ft under leaving space but, will they need to widen the hole? She has made it clear this is the only option and wont be cremated.
As a granddaughter I can't discuss it with her, I thought about asking my aunties (her daughters) but don't want to upset them, I am worried though that I'm the only one who has thought of this potential problem and maybe it's best getting it sorted out. Or am I just being weird and should just not think about it.....?

She wasn't just obese, but excessively so. The casket was made to accomodate her, although, unpleasant as this may be, once fluids've drained from a body, this shrinks considerably. In my friend's case, she was cremated, but if a coffin's made to a certain size, then I assume the burial plot'd be catered for as well.
