hi there well me and my boyfriend are planning on going to new york from scotland in september weve not booked anything yet,we have got a price of just under �800 per person thats flights and a week in hotel thats through expedia can anyone tell me if we would be as well booking that now or is there a chance of getting a better deal nearer the time???

I went to NY last new year, booked flights and hotels directly which came to a lot less than that, flights were 189 each (american airlines booked through virgin) and the hotel was 69USD per night (the clarion on 5th avenue), I have always found expedia/lastminute.com etc to be very overpriced so might be worth taking a look at what you can find independently, have a  great trip though

Don't "waste" money on the hotel. There is so much to do in New York that you will only use it for sleeping. Good luck.

On lastminute.com i got flights with virgin, staying in the lexington over new year for just over 400 quid for five days, booking a couple of days before xmas. Lastminute is GREAT, and agree with gef, so much to do you'll only be sleeping and changing in hotel so get somewhere central but not stupidly expensive, unless you're a millionaire and want to stay at the waldorf astoria of course.
